Greg Kihn

Born and raised in Baltimore, Greg Kihn began his love affair with rock 'n roll when he moved to San Francisco in 1974. Kihn recorded his first album in 1976 with The Greg Kihn Band, built a strong cult following through constant touring in the '70s, and hit it big in the '80s with hits like "The Breakup Song (They Don't Write 'Em Like That)" and "Jeopardy."

In 1996, Kihn filled in for a nighttime jock at San Jose's KFOX and discovered he was a natural behind the mic. He immediately developed a loyal fan base and was offered the nighttime slot. With a brain like a rock music encyclopedia, countless stories to tell from his touring days, and the fact that he had personal relationships with dozens of recording artists, he was able to offer his listeners a totally unique experience.

A year later Kihn was offered the morning drive gig at KFOX. Rock musicians are not known for being morning people and Kihn attempted to decline, until they offered to triple his salary. He's been pulling top ratings for the past 11 years.

Still part of the rock scene, Kihn and his band, featuring his son Ry on lead guitar, play for his rock and radio fans. Kihn is also a published author of five novels. His recently released, "Carved in Rock," features stories by musicians such as Ray Manzarek (The Doors), Pete Townshend (The Who) and Joan Jett, co-written, collected and edited by Kihn.
